Is there a deposit required to book a party? YES. We require a $75 deposit at the time you book a party. We accept paypal, credit card payments on our website, or personal checks.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you cancel your scheduled party for any reason 10 days prior to your party and are unable to reschedule your $75 deposit will not be refunded. If you give us more than a 10 day notice of cancellation, $65 of your $75 deposit will be refunded. A Great Party Spot was created by two moms with 6 children. We realize emergencies happen. We will do our best to work with you to reschedule a party if you are unable to have the party on your original scheduled date.
I rescheduled the party but the same people can't come. Is there a fee?
If you change the guest list and need the personalized items re-printed a $10 fee will be charged. We recommend inviting the same group of children that R.S.V.P'd YES for the original party to avoid extra fees. There is no rescheduling fee unless you change the guest list.
Will my party be cancelled due to inclement weather?
This is Wisconsin and you never know what the weather is going to do. If there is inclement weather and we determine it is not safe for traveling we will be closed. Should your party be scheduled on such a day we will make every effort to reschedule your party as soon as possible. You will be notified within 4 hours prior to your party should we be forced to cancel it. If rescheduling is not going to work for you, $65 of your deposit will be refunded.
What is the minimum time needed to book a party?
We strongly encourage you to book a party AT LEAST 3 weeks prior to the date you need. At A Great Party Spot we will be creating personalized books for the guests as well as the birthday child and require all the information to be provided to us at LEAST ten (10) days prior to the party. Upon receiving your deposit A Great Party Spot will provide you with invitations within 3-5 business days. We will either mail them to you or arrange for you to pick them up at our location. You will need to send the invitations out and collect the RSVP's. If you wish for the story books to only include the children who are coming you will need to allow yourself enough time to do the above things. We do require that you book a party at least 14 days prior to the date needed.
What is the recommended age for your parties?
Our parties were specifically designed for children between ages 4 and 10. We do a lot of activities that are easy enough for 3 year olds and fun enough for 12 year olds too. We encourage guests younger than 3 to remain at home. We understand that situations arise where it is unavoidable. Should a situation arise where you or a guest will have to bring a child under 3 years old to A Great Party Spot, we must require that an additional person responsible for that child stay. This is for the child's safety and to ensure the party and the other guests are not disrupted.
How many children can I invite to the party?
At A Great Party Spot we do not have a minimum amount of guests required to throw a party for you. If you do not have eight (8) guests the fee will be reduced $4.00 per child. Our maximum capacity for children is 12 or 16 children depending on the theme. This includes siblings regardless of age. Older and younger siblings are always welcome at A Great Party Spot. Please include them in your guest totals. It is important to note that our parties are designed for children ages 3 and up. We highly recommend that children under 3 do not attend (siblings being the exception).
What information is needed to book a party?
At A Great Party Spot we pride ourselves in making your child's birthday a personalized themed fun party. We want you and your child to walk away feeling as if we created this day especially for you! Our parties are centered around our story books and your child will love reading this book over and over again for days to come! For every theme the books main characters are your child and their friends. We ask that you send us first names of your child and the children you want in the book. Some of the books pair children up with personality traits or favorite activities. We set up our parties so you can choose which child goes with which trait. For example, you may want your child to be with happy bear in our bear party instead of super hero bear. If you prefer, we will randomly choose which child goes with what and require only that you provide us with first names and child's birthday age.
What will you do with the information we give you?
As mentioned before, A Great Party Spot was created by two moms with 6 children! We understand and respect your need for privacy and will not tolerate any misuse of information. We are a personal small family run business and will use the information you provide us with for the sole purpose of creating the personalized story books and coloring books. We will not share any information with other parties for any reason unless obligated to do so by law.
When should I arrive for my child's party?
Please arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before your party is supposed to start. Many times we have parties prior to yours that we will need to clean up from, set up for your party and we need allowed time for the guests from the prior party to leave.
Can we add activities to the party?
Our parties are planned and designed to last two (2) hours. We can be flexible and ask that if you have a special request to contact us. We will be happy to incorporate reasonable requests into the party.
Can we bring a piñata?
We allow pull string piñata’s only. For safety reasons we will not allow any other type of piñata. Please tell us ten (10) days prior to a party if you will be bringing a pull string piñata so we may incorporate that into your child's party plan
Can I receive emails and updates to special promotions?
Of course! We will email or mail you special promotions upon request only. We will never send unsolicited mail or emails unless you expressly ask us to. To be added to our mailing list, simply e-mail us at and put "please add me to your mailing list" in the title. If you would prefer the postal service versus e-mails, include your address.
How long does a party last?
Your party slot is for two (2) hours. Our parties are designed to last 1 hour and 30 minutes. Our Great Party Package allows an additional 30 minutes for opening gifts, eating and serving cake.
Can I bring my own cake to the party?
Yes, you can bring your own cake to the party. We have an additional 30 minutes allotted with the basic party package for you to open gifts, sing happy birthday, and eat cake. We wish to remind you to also bring plates, napkins and forks too. With the purchase of our Deluxe package we will provide the cake, plates, napkins, silverware and juice boxes for you so you have less to worry about.
Can I serve a meal at the party?
If you wish to serve a meal you can either book the room for an additional 30 minutes at the end of the party for an additional $50.00. Or, we can use the 30 minutes of the party to serve the food. Should you choose to serve food you will be responsible for ordering, handling, and serving the food. You will also need to supply any additional plates, silverware, napkins and drinks for your guests. We will be happy to supply you with these for a small fee. Please keep in mind that other parties may be booked after yours and we may not be able to accommodate you should you need additional time in the room. Please keep in mind that choosing to add 30 minutes meal time will take away 30 minutes of craft and games. We highly recommend adding the 30 minute room rental for meals.
What if a guest cancels? Will I still be charged?
Should a guest cancel ten (10) days prior to a party you will be given a $4.00 refund for that child. If we are notified prior to ten (10) days there will be no charge.
I have more than 16 guests. What can you do to help me?
Due to limited space we simply cannot accommodate a larger group. However, we do offer do it yourself packages on our webpage. You will receive all the fun party supplies and take home items for the children. . See the party products tabs for more information on each party.
How many adults can be at the party?
We actually require that the birthday child's parent or legal guardian be present during the entire party. We also require that this person take responsibility for the children attending this party. We have limited space at A Great Party Spot and use the entire space for the games and activities. Parents are more than welcome to stay and watch but often will have to stand to the side. Chairs and other comfort accomodations for parents are not always available.
Some parents expressed that they would like to stay. How many adults can be present at the party?
We do have limited space at A Great Party Spot and want to maintain a safe and fun environment for the children. Our maximum capacity for children is 16. We encourage you to help reduce the parent level to less than 4. We will do our best to accommodate all the adults that wish to stay but do have limited space for seating, as the children and their fun are our first priority.
How many Great Party Spot hosts will be at the party?
At least one owner will be present at every party. Every party booked will have two hosts attending to the children and their needs.
As the birthday child's parent what is expected of me?
During the party we encourage you to join in and help. We will be reading books, doing arts and craft activities, playing games and more! You can join in on the fun and truly help with some of the activities too. We want your experience to be memorable and fun too. If you wish to stay in the background to take photos or simply watch that is fine too! Our only requirement is that you are present and that you step in should a child or guest become unruly or disruptive. Our expectation is that you and your child walk away with happy memories and smiles on your faces!
What if a parent is late picking a child up from our party?
At A Great Party Spot we sometimes have more than one party in one day. We do require that all children are picked up promptly to show respect for other families having parties. The birthday child's adult is responsible for ensuring that every child is picked up by their parent. The birthday child's adult is not allowed to leave our premise if a child has not been picked up by their parent. It is advised that the adult responsible have phone numbers handy should emergencies arise.
